Indigo ("Indie") is a scruffy, peppy Shih Tzu mix, 1 year old, and about 10 lbs. He is a sweet boy who loves playing with toys and bonds closely to his immediate family. He is a little standoffish at first, but soon warms up to you and enjoys giving kisses and sleeping at the foot of your bed.
Indie spent the first part of his life in an animal hoarding environment. He is still learning about leashes and will not go potty on a leash, so he requires a fenced yard. We are also looking for a household with a companion dog for Indie, as he loves to play with other dogs and looks to his foster mom's dog to learn what to do. Like many small dogs, Indie will bark to alert you to noises and people outside his home. He is very nervous during car rides and will sometimes get sick in the car, but riding in a kennel seems to help a little.
Indie is potty trained and does okay in his crate (with some barking) when his foster mom has to leave him alone. He already knows "sit" and will do great with additional training. The ideal home for Indigo would have someone home often -- he would not be a good fit for someone who is gone for most of the day. Indie would thrive in a calm, quiet, loving environment where he can spend most of his time with his family. He would be fine with respectful children and would most likely be fine around cats. Small dogs can live well into their teens, so please keep that in mind when planning for a future with Indie.

Indigo’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip.
We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter.
