****  SAM is a SPECIAL NEEDS ADOPTABLE DOG  ****

****  DO NOT APPLY UNTIL YOU READ & UNDERSTAND SAM   ***

Sam is a 1 yr old Sweet Shih Tzu, weighing about 14 lb.

His  poop and pee cannot be controlled by Sam due to injuries to his spine which have permanently damaged a nerve that controls knowing how to poop and pee .  That injury could have been caused by abuse but we will never know.

¨   Even though this seems terrible for Sam, it isn’t; he is a very happy dog and doesn’t know what he doesn’t know.

¨   He acts like a normal dog who gets into trouble like any other young boy!

¨   He is a trash can searcher, toy hoarder, loves to do zoomies around a fenced yard and lay next to you when you are relaxing or watching tv.

¨   He is okay with other dogs, but wants to be Alpha Dominant dog which also includes no sharing of food.

¨   The foster mom has Sam wear a belly band while in the house and placing kotex pads inside to catch the pee.  He is about a 3-pad a day guy!  When outside, she takes the belly band off and pee will come out as he plays in the yard.

¨   The poop comes out about 3 times a day.  Sam doesn’t know when it’s coming out, but his tail will sometimes cock up in the air like a normal dog pooping.  His poop is pretty solid and easy to pick up because we have continued to give him a higher quality of food and not overfeed. He seems to poop when he is really relaxed; sometimes laying down, sometimes just standing while you are petting him. Usually not outside since that is when he is active.

¨   You can try using a diaper for the poop, however, the vet said that would be a little more work because if he poops in diaper, you will change the diaper but you will then have to clean up his fur from sitting in it just like changing a baby’s diaper.

¨   The foster mom has found that just placing a dog blanket/pad any place he is laying has worked very well when he poops while laying down.   So far his foster home is working well to just see the poop, pick it up and put in toilet rather than using a diaper.

¨   HE WILL NEVER BE TRAINED TO USE POTTY PADS BECAUSE HE HAS NO CONTROL OVER DECISION TO POTTY.

¨   Sam sleeps on their bed at night at his mom’s feet and he lays on top of his blanket.  He has a spot on the sofa where he lays that has a cover and blanket on it.

¨   Sam is such a Sweet Boy and would really like to find a forever family who doesn’t care about his pottying issue who will clean up after him.

¨   If you are ready to take on  SAM’S PERMANENT POTTY ISSUE  and understand and  AGREE TO HELP HIM FOREVER , fill out an adoption application.
